Distribution Management
The Distribution module aims to simulate the distribution system of a company that owns distribution centers away from the factory.
These Distribution Centers hold inventories that are replenished from the central (plant) warehouse. In each distribution center, a calculation of requirements is performed. It shows the needs for replenishment of the Distribution Center that are sent to the plant. In the plant, products are manufactured and then shipped to Distribution Centers from where customers are delivered to.
This method for managing distribution flows of goods is called DRP (Distribution Resource Planning).
- Sales of products are made not only to store finished products of the factory but also in distribution centers. These distribution centers keep stocks are replenished from the central site.
- The company forecast sales for each of the distribution center. Customers are linked by default to a distribution center. Orders must be delivered from a distribution center. The system manages inventory and requirements at each distribution center.
- When the inventory level available in a distribution center is insufficient to meet demand, a request for replenishment is sent to the plant. For each item managed in the distribution center, management rules should be specified.
- Distribution center requirements are treated as internal needs which are taken into account by the MRP at the plant level.
- The products are transported to distribution centers from which they can be delivered to the customers.
You can see all the data
- either from the central site,
- or from each distribution center.
- From the central site, we will have a view on requirements and inventories of the entire network. You will manage the production in the plant and replenish distribution centers according to the needs they have expressed.
- From a distribution center, we will only see the data related to the distribution center. The distributon center receives the goods from the plant and deliver to customers.
