Detailed Scheduling and Production Activity Control

Short-term planning involves establishing a detailed work schedule for manufacturing workshops to allocate it to the production resources.

Work shop schedule

Detailled scheduling

It consits in sequencing work orders on machines available time slots (finite capacity). Several methods and parameters affect this schedule:

  • Forward and Backward work order loading
  • Detailled Scheduling by Priority Rules (10 rules)
  • Overlapping of operations

Production Activity Control

When a satisfactory schedule has been reached, work orders must be released and transform into Open Work Orders.

A open work order is is a commitment to manufacture and can no longer be deleted.

The actions to be carried out in the life of an open work order are as follows:

  • Components Issues,
  • Recording the quantities produced (good parts and discarded) and times used,
  • Analysis of pending and completed operations,
  • Work Order closing,
  • Time used and resource usage variance analysis.
